The Nambale Magnet School opened in Western Kenya on January 12, 2009. It aims to provide excellence in education and nurture for at-risk children, and will be a K-8 school with some 350 students.

Every 14 seconds a child is orphaned in sub-Saharan Africa. The UN estimates that in Kenya, some 1.3 million are living with AIDS, and an estimated1.1 million children are orphaned because of HIV/AIDS. “Orphaned” means even extended family members have died; these kids have no one.

The Nambale Magnet School is dedicated to providing academic opportunity as well as nurture and support to girls and boys who have no home or extended family. The long-term vision of the Nambale Magnet School goes beyond housing and educating indigent children in one of the poorest parts of Africa. The long-term vision is one of transformed life and a better future for the entire community.
